Everything you need to know about Galactic Racing
Getting started
Browse current and upcoming races on the Dashboard. Each card shows start time, entry fee (in Chickens), racer count, and status (Open/Active/Finished).
Routes are randomly generated. Times are shown in UTC.
How to Join a Race
- Open a race and click Join this race.
- Paste your limited Galactic Tycoons API key to fetch your company and ships.
- Pick a ship. Some races require specific emitters/reactors or counts â if so, the Join panel lists it.
- Pay the entry fee:
- From balance (instant): if youâre also signed in as a Bettor and have enough Chickens.
- By contract: send a Chicken contract to the master company as instructed; allow a short polling delay.
- Before launch you can swap ships via the Racer Console; swaps lock at race start.
Entry fees fund the racer pot paid entirely to the winning racer.
How to deposit chickens
Chickens held on the race site can be used for placing bets and assisting racers with repair drones. Deposits are non-reversible and cannot be withdrawn.
- Open Galactic Tycoons.
- Create a contract addressed to:
Farmy McFarm Face The 7th(ID: 13226) - Add Chickens as the material.
- Set the contract type to Buy (you are selling chickens to Farmy McFarm Face The 7th).
- Set the location to Exchange Station (ID: 1022).
- Complete the contract.
- Wait for the automatic deposit poll (runs every few minutes).
- Refresh your race-site chicken balance.
Betting and Supporting Racers
Placing Bets
- Sign in with your API key to see your Chicken balance.
- Place bets on any approved racer while the race is Open.
- Betting uses a pari-mutuel pool â winners split the pool proportionally to their stake.
- Betting locks the instant the race launches.
How to help a racer
During an active race, you can deploy Repair Drones to assist struggling racers.
- Cost: 100 Chickens per drone.
- Who can use it: Anyone signed in with a balance.
- Targeting: Must target a racer currently in repairs and outside the top 3 positions.
- Effect: Immediately removes 60 seconds from their repair timer.
- Usage: Can be used repeatedly as long as you have Chickens and the racer is still repairing.
Attack Drones: coming soon.
Hazards, Shields and Repairs
How random events work
- Events occur randomly during an active race while a racer is in flight.
- The system checks for events periodically; not every check produces an event.
- Eligibility: Racers are targeted based on their FTL emitter count and tier. Larger, more advanced ships are "hit magnets".
- Position Multipliers: Leaders face a "Pioneer Penalty" (higher hit chance), while trailing racers get a "Drafting Bonus" (lower hit chance).
- Outcome: Events can be cosmetic or cause real hull damage and repair delays depending on the race settings.
Shields
Shields mitigate damage from specific event types:
- Heat Shields protect against Solar Flares and Plasma Vents.
- Radiation Shields protect against Cosmic Rays and Magnetic Storms.
- Kinetic Damage (Asteroids, Debris) cannot be shielded.
Higher shield tiers provide more mitigation (up to 80%). You can Overload shields for +50% extra protection, but they will burn out for the leg if hit.
Damage and Repairs
When hull health drops to or below 70%, the racer enters emergency repairs.
- Racer is "parked" until the repair timer expires.
- Repair duration is random (typically 2-8 minutes).
- When repairs finish, health is restored to 100%.
Race Progress and Finishing
- Checkpoint Progress: Racers must visit each planet in the sequence. Progress is tracked via GT flight data.
- Winning: The first approved racer to complete all checkpoints and return to the finish line wins.
- Racer Pot: The winner receives the entire pool of entry fees.
- Pariâmutuel payout: Bettors on the winner split the betting pool proportionally:
payout = floor(bet_amount à total_pool á total_stake_on_winner).
Discord announcements
Race creators and admins can optionally broadcast race events to a Discord channel.
- Enable in the race creation/edit form. Provide a Discord Channel ID.
- Announcements include: race start/finish, joins/approvals, position updates, damage/delays, cancellations.
- Commentary style: funny, sarcastic, and playful â never abusive. You can set intensity: Mild, Spicy, or Absolute chaos.
- Security: The site calls a private bot endpoint using a serverâside token. Your token is never exposed to browsers.
Troubleshooting
- Canât see live changes: keep the tab open; if assets look stale, run a hard refresh.
- API key problems: make sure youâre using your limited key from Galactic Tycoons and that itâs active.
- Entry fee not recognized: if paying by contract, verify the destination company and planet match the onâpage instructions and wait a minute for polling.
